[I] Ahmet Şahbaz, the police officer who has been identified as the killer of Ethem Sarısülük has been cleared of all charges, as the court decided that the killing was an act of defence. Sarısülük had been shot on June 1st in Ankara during the initial wave of demonstrations. Having been recorded on video as unarmed, Sarısülük was then shot in the head by police officer Ahmet Şahbaz with a live round. Sarısülük family has announced they will be appealing to European Court of Human Rights.
[II] Security tapes of a parking lot in Antalya have revealed police forces beating protestors. No official paperwork or procedure have been followed while the policemen simply indulged their violence with impunity.
[III] BBC has released a public statement, admonishing vindictive accusations by Mayor of Ankara Melih Gökçek, who had claimed that BBC correspondent Selin Girit was a foreign spy. This latest occurrence Gökçek's increasingly unhinged claims have been dismissively replied by BBC, who invited the Mayor to follow proper channels of complaint rather than calling out targets. Earlier this month, Melih Gökçek had claimed that Ethem Sarısülük had been killed by a stone, thrown by provocateurs. The claim was falsified within 24 hours, as Sarısülük's autopsy revealed a 9mm bullet buried into the skull.
